Nurse Practitioner — Emergency Department Fast Track IHS Medical Center | New Mexico

About the Facility: A large federal medical center serving a Native American tribal community in the Southwest. This is a full service hospital with a high volume Emergency Department operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The facility holds a Level IV Trauma designation and is certified for pediatric emergency care. One of the highest volume IHS facilities in the region with a comprehensive scope of inpatient and outpatient services on site.

Position Overview: We are seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners to support the Fast Track unit within a busy federal Emergency Department. The Fast Track functions as a dedicated urgent care lane within the ED where NPs independently manage lower to moderate acuity presentations alongside Board Certified Emergency Physicians. High volume, high autonomy, mission driven environment. Positive prior contract history with our agency. Multiple positions available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently assess, diagnose, and treat lower to moderate acuity emergency presentations
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies including labs, imaging, and EKG
• Prescribe medications and initiate treatment plans within full NP scope of practice
• Collaborate with Board Certified Emergency Physicians on escalating cases
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Deliver culturally competent care to a diverse tribal patient population of all ages

Required Qualifications:

• Active NP license — any U.S. state accepted
• ATLS certification required
• Fresh emergency department experience required
• BLS and ACLS current
• Ability to work independently in a high volume federal setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior IHS or tribal facility experience
• Fast Track or urgent care within an ED setting
• PALS certification
• Cultural competency with Native American populations
